Pontotoc -   Mary Elsie Cruse, 91, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Pontotoc Extended Care Facility where she had resided for the last 4 years. She was born to William Thomas and Dora Wages Sewell on July 31, 1924 in Pontotoc County. She was married to Frank Furr Cruse for 65 years. She was a member of West Heights Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Young at Heart. She was a devoted daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She especially loved her grandchildren and enjoyed caring for them. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She worked outside the home. Her occupations included Gordans Dept. Store until it was destroyed by fire, Keith Owen's Store, Stubbs Dept. Store, Whitworth and Ashmore Drug Store, Emporium Jewelers, Miss Eaton and Brookwood Furniture which ended her career because of her health.

  Services will be Monday, October 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Hamilton and Bro. Dan Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Cruse Cemetery. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  She is survived by two daughters-Ernestine Rosenbaum (Charlie) and Sherry Russell (Steve) both of Pontotoc; four grandchildren-Angie Spencer (Lee) of Brandon, MS, Staci Rosenbaum of Pontotoc, John Russell (Kelsey) of Oxford and Luke Russell (Tiffany) of Pontotoc; seven great-grandchildren-Mary Kathryn Spencer, Matthew Spencer, Adam Rosenbaum (Santana), Anna Rosenbaum, Will Rosenbaum, Alice Russell and Jaxon Cruse Russell; one great-great-grandchildren-Elliot Clay Rosenbaum; one sister-Elewanda Tutor Mize; one special niece-Kitty Wilbur (J.W.); one special nephew-Frank Fiddler (Chung Souk), all the wonderful care givers at Pontotoc Extended Care Facility and numerous nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers-Edward Sewell, Cortez Sewell and C.D. Sewell and one sister-Deweese Baldwin.
  Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm and Monday, October 5, 2015 from 9:00 am until service at 11:00 am.
  Pallbearers to serve will be Frankie Patterson, Stan Patterson, Mike Cruse, Randy Cruse, Phil Todd and Don Patterson.
