William Ross Pannell, 84, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on October 13, 2015. He was born to Robert Ross and Henrietta McCullough Pannell on March 1, 1931 in Pontotoc County and later married Bertha Lee Williams Pannell on April 15, 1950. He was a Christian, a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend to many and a member of Toxish Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was a Mason and a Shriner; a farmer, loved his garden and believed in "working by the sweat of the brow" until his homegoing.
Service will be held at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Bro. Rusty Miller and Bro. Paul Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Edington Cemetery.
He leaves behind his wife of over 65 years-Bertha Lee Williams Pannell; three daughters-Brenda Greer, Rita Ard (Dale) and Joyce Chittom (Walter); grandchildren-Waylon Black, Heath Black (Shawnda), Clayton Ard, Charissa Grissom (Lee), Marlana Huffstatler (Steven), Rob Chittom (Molly), Hunter Ard and Stephen Greer; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister-Nancy Pearl Sewell; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st child-William Phillip Pannell and son-in-law-Steve Greer.
Pallbearers to serve will be grandsons-Heath Black, Steven Huffstatler, Waylon Black, Rob Chittom, Clayton Ard and Lee Grissom. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Johnson and Channing Warren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home in Pontotoc from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 1:00 pm until service at 2:00 pm.
