Pontotoc -   Robert L. White, 92, passed away at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS on September 9, 2015. He was born on September 12, 1922 to Robert E. and Hauttie Lee Cross White in Honey Grove, Texas. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, served our country in the United States Army, World War II Veteran, Normandy Campaign, Northern France Campaign, Rhineland Campaign, Central Europe Campaign, European, African, Middle Eastern, Theatre Ribbon with Four (4) Bronze Service Stars, American Theatre Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, American Defense Service Metal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the V.A. American Legion and D.A.V. He was a wonderful father, friend and always there for his family.
  Services will be Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am with Dr. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
  He is survived by his daughter-Lois Shanks of Cat Springs, TX; two sons-Johnny White (Amber) of League, TX and Joel White (Kaye) of Pontotoc; grandchildren-Francey White Westinghouse, Benjamin Shanks (Stefanie), Tyler White, Kyle White, Jacob Clemons, Charles E. Clemons, Heather Shanks Creighton (Chris) and Brett Shanks (Ashley); 10 great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law Annie Lee Warren.
  He is preceded in death by his wife-Rachel Omelia White, parents-Robert and Hauttie White; his son-in-law-George Shanks on Dec. 2, 2014; siblings-John White, Anna Lou White Miller, Gilbert White, Gladys White Clawson, Nona White Renkin, Malcom White, Talmadge White and Donna Merl White Friedel.
  Pallbearers will by nephews and cousins.
  Visitation will be Friday, September 11, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am until service at 11:00 am. at Baldwin Nowell Funeral Home.
